More Tales

The story of Big Ears, as told by Charles Lummis in "The Man Who Married the Moon", was published in 1894. This tale comes from the people of Isleta Pueblo in central New Mexico, and has been passed down the centuries. The story is meant to show the honesty and wisdom of the Burro, an animal which has been part of Pueblo life in New Mexico ever since the Spanish explorer Coronado came through the area over 500 years ago.
